This is our minister Bob – picture taken on Sunday morning 1st August 2010 – during the family service – which we have on the first Sunday each month
Each family service really is aimed at showing youngsters – and the rest of us – the true joy to be found in Christ
Jan was so pleased with this picture that she had emailed it up to us at New Wine in Newark – when Bob and Jackie arrived Sunday evening they were stunned that we already had a picture that they did not know had been taken!
On reflection what stunned us was quite how hectic a schedule Bob and Jackie have
We knew they were spending the last week in July at the New Wine conference of 10,000 people in Somerset – working as the prayer ministry team for the leaders – then back to take a wedding at St James – then the family service on Sunday – and then up to Newark to join us a day after the start of the North & East New Wine Conference with some 6,500 people
So Why New Wine?
The new wine annual conferences give people a week to spend time with thousands of Christians – a typical day involves morning worship with teaching – various seminars – evening worship with teaching
It is difficult to explain how moving it is to worship in spirit and truth with so many Christians – but above all New Wine is about helping local churches to reach out to the broken hearted in our society – to help people out of pain and into the joy of knowing Jesus
New Wine 2011 – Saturday 30th July to Friday 5th August
Next year Bob is keen to have around 24 of us from St James go to the conference in Newark – a 2 hour drive – half of us camping on site – half of us in rented cottages
